I just thought I’d share one of my recent custom bridal illustrations. This particular illustration was challenging for me because I rarely sketch men as I am most passionate about creating fashion illustrations that are usually inspired by the female figure – specifically for fashionistas and chic brides. I really enjoyed this special challenge, however, and truly had an amazing time capturing this lovely couple (who used their custom illustration for recipe books that they created as their wedding favors)!
This season kate spade is celebrating celebrations – from big to small, whatever the reason! Their summer 2017 collection was visually inspired by their travels to the vibrant and festive Mexico City, and I love all of the beautiful details that were carried throughout. My favorites include – the rich tropical hues, festive florals and cute “pops of pińatas”! We recently celebrated this fun and colorful collection with sweet treats and sips at their store in the Cherry Creek Shopping Center! I had an amazing time live-sketching for the event and it was really sweet how every one that I had the pleasure of sketching, from ages 4 and up, asked to be sketched in something from the collection. I feel as if the evening really embodied the kate spade quote, “Playing dress-up begins at age 5 and never truly ends” and I absolutely LOVE that I get to play dress-up with paints and brushes, every single day! Below are just a few of my favorites… Which pieces from their collection are you most excited about for this summer?

I launched my new bridal services on jocquillinshaunte.com back in April and was absolutely thrilled to host a party to celebrate!! For this super special occasion, I partnered with my besties from Kendra Scott and The Her Initiative. We celebrated with sips, sweets and jewels, as well as some pretty wonderful giveaways – including stunning bridal jewelry from Kendra Scott and custom bridal sketches from yours truly! Sounds like a perfect day, right?
I did a live demo and had a blast sketching our photographer, Sarah (she recently re-launched her gorgeous new website – Sarah Hill Photography!!), who served as my model. In addition to the live demo, I also hosted a semi-custom watercolor station, where guests were able to paint their own 5×7” bridal illustration to take home! Because I’m always looking for an opportunity to give to a great cause, it was really important for me to support my friend Kayla, founder of The Her Initiative (who decided to surprise me with a tiara and the most beautiful birthday cake I’ve ever seen, making it a super special birthday party as well!!). My sweet friends at Kendra Scott helped me out and 20% of all proceeds from the event went directly to The Her Initiative’s cause!
It was such an amazing day! Below are all of the pretty photos taken by my wonderful friend, Sarah.
While I know that florals for Spring aren’t necessarily groundbreaking, I can’t help but be OBSESSED year after year! I have had a love affair with flowers my entire life and wanted to share some florals that I’m currently loving this Spring!
What are your favorite trends this year? Xo
I absolutely can not wait to share more photos from my bridal launch party but, in the mean time, I thought I could at least share with you what I wore! If you’ve been following me for a while now, you probably get that I love pink AND if you’re not a pink lover, then I may not be the fashion illustrator for you. Funny thing though, I hardly ever wear it. Because this launch party was so special to me and was also a mini birthday celebration, I wanted to wear something different… feminine and colorful. Something that stood out and screamed Jocquillin Shaunté!
When it comes to my personal style, I usually like to wear pretty simple, comfortable pieces and I love to accessorize, especially with gold. So I tried to stick to that. I would usually never wear pink on pink, however when I tried on those tie-waist shorts, I fell in love and I just so happened to be trying on a pretty neon petal shirt at the same time, never meaning for them to be worn together outside of the store. Ha! However, when I saw them together, I, my husband and the store stylist all agreed that it was perfect!
Keeping it simple, I decided to dress the pieces up with gold drop earrings and a statement necklace. I also paired everything with classic bone colored pumps. And while for this occasion I seemed to have jumped on the pink bandwagon, both feet at a time, I honesty felt SO pretty the day of my launch party. From now on, I will try to incorporate more pink into my wardrobe. Would you ever wear pink on pink? Xo!
I recently put together my very first fashion illustration class and styled shoot! I invited a few friends to not only take my class but also to pose as a lovely bride with her beautiful bridesmaids enjoying a fun “girls day out” covered in jewels! The theme of the shower was “She’s a Gem” and my goal for this shoot was for us to have as much fun as possible while learning something new!
The class was held at Kendra Scott in Cherry Creek North and we dressed in lace, chiffon and light pastels (mint, white, gold, lilac, blushes and pinks) with nail color to match, light makeup and loose waves! We enjoyed sparkling wine and french macarons as I taught each of the ladies how to create custom sketches featuring Kendra Scott jewelry! I had so much fun teaching this class and I am already counting down to my next Fashion Illustration class! I cannot wait to implement all of the amazing suggestions the girls gave me to make this class even more fun and enjoyable for my brides and their closest girlfriends!
My sweet friend, Sarah, of Sarah Hill Photography came out, worked her magic as our photographer and captured the most beautiful photos, which you can see below!
If you are a fun-loving bride who would like to enjoy a special ‘girls day’ with your tribe, then this class is for you! Classes are designed for 3-15 bridesmaids, depending on the location, and all materials are included (as well as light refreshments!) plus classes are always complementary to brides! You can find more information about this class and all of the other services that I offer to brides and their besties here! Xo
My bridal services are now live and I’m beyond excited to celebrate!! I hope that you are too because this Sunday, I will be throwing the Jocquillin Shaunté Bridal Launch party and you’re invited! I’m also super pleased to be partnering with Kendra Scott and The Her Initiative for this event! If you are in the Denver area and available, I would absolutely love for you to join us as we we mix, mingle and play with watercolors! There will be sips, sweets, jewels and some pretty wonderful giveaways. I will also be doing a live demo so you can see me sketching in action, as well as hosting a semi-custom watercolor station, where you can paint your own 5×7″ bridal illustration to take home! Lastly, 20% of all proceeds from this event will go directly to The Her Initiative! So basically you can shop pretty jewelry AND support a beautiful cause! Win-win!
Feel free to bring a friend and please be sure to RSVP to the Facebook event here! I can’t wait to see you!!
